Mobile Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the AutoBuddy mobile app handles, why it is needed, and the choices you have.
Effective and last updated: July 28, 2026
Who provides the app
AutoBuddy is published by Sarim Siddiqui, trading as AutoBuddy, in Mombasa, Kenya. In this policy, “AutoBuddy,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to that business.
The app is business software for vehicle showrooms. It lets authorized users sign in, view and update showroom records, and turn selected client documents or images into draft entries for review.
Data the app handles
- Account data: your email address, authentication identifiers, session information, and access to the showroom you are authorized to use.
- Showroom data: client and contact details, vehicle information, installment records, payments, notes, and other business records that you enter or are allowed to access.
- Files you choose: existing images, PDFs, spreadsheets, or CSV files that you select for scanning.
- Service data: session status and basic technical, error, or service-response details created when the app communicates with AutoBuddy.
Photos and documents
AutoBuddy asks for photo-library access when you choose an existing image for scanning. The document picker lets you choose a document. The app does not search your device for unrelated files, and the current mobile app does not capture photos with the camera.
When you start a scan, the selected file is prepared on your device and sent through AutoBuddy’s secured Supabase scan service to Google Gemini for text and field extraction. Scan results are drafts and should be checked before you save them.
Do not scan a document unless your showroom is allowed to process the personal and financial information it contains.
How data is used
- Sign you in and keep your session working.
- Show and sync records for the correct showroom.
- Create or update records after you review and confirm them.
- Extract draft information from files you deliberately submit for scanning.
- Provide support and protect the service.
- Investigate failures, abuse, or unauthorized access.
Storage, providers, and sharing
Supabase provides authentication, database, storage, and server functions. Google Gemini processes files you submit to the scanning feature. Expo provides the app runtime and build delivery. Your device platform and app store also process information under their own terms.
When the app checks for updates, Expo may receive your device operating system and a randomized installation token. Expo uses this information only to deliver the correct update to your installation.
We share data with these providers only to operate the relevant feature, or when required for security or by law. We do not sell mobile-app personal data. The app has no advertising, does not use data for cross-app advertising tracking, and has no in-app purchases.
The current app does not register for push notifications, request notification permission, or use Expo Device to collect device details.
Private and encrypted showroom data
AutoBuddy supports encrypted Private Cloud features for certain showroom records. When enabled, supported data is stored as ciphertext and must be unlocked by an authorized device before it can be read.
Encryption coverage depends on the feature and showroom configuration. Authentication records, service metadata, delivery information, and every possible file or field are not necessarily end-to-end encrypted.
Retention and account deletion
We keep information while it is needed to provide the app, protect the service, meet legal obligations, or support records owned by a showroom. Shared business records may remain available to other authorized showroom users after one person leaves.
An authenticated user can request account deletion in the app. Read the account deletion guide for the process, cancellation window, deletion target, and records that may be retained.
Your choices and rights
You can limit photo access through device settings and choose each document through the system picker. You can also choose not to submit a file for AI scanning and enter the record manually instead.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, object to, restrict, or delete personal data. See your privacy choices or contact us. If the data belongs to a showroom’s client, contact that showroom first; the showroom normally decides how its client records are used.
Security, children, and changes
We use access controls, encrypted connections, and other safeguards appropriate to the service. No online service can promise absolute security. Protect your device and sign-in details, and report suspected unauthorized access promptly.
AutoBuddy is business software and is not directed to children. We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
